Future Problem Solving International

Future Problem Solving motivates and assists students to develop an active interest in the future, improve written and oral communication skills, work cooperatively, develop research skills while learning about complex social and scientific issues, and think creatively, critically and analytically.Currently FPSPCT offers several options for students up to 12th grade.

Community Problem Solving-students use the problem solving process to tackle an actual problem in their community.Develop creative thinking (fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration) Develop and improve research skills Increase awareness of and interest in the future while studying current significant issues Develop teamwork skills Improve communication skills both written and verbal Develop critical and analytical thinking skills Learn and utilize problem solving strategies Future Problem Solvers (FPS) is a program designed for PCA Middle and Upper School students who desire an academic challenge.The Future Problem Solving Program International (FPSPI) provides a venue for students at PCA to utilize their skills they have acquired to compete in a competitive setting that includes the best and brightest students from public schools from the State of Texas.This story is not written out in full; it is to be “told” and should be more “natural” and “spontaneous” in nature.Performances should be creative and entertaining to an audience.They use the 6 steps to refine their goal and actually carry out their action plan.Scenario Writing-student write a futuristic scenario of no more than 1500 words on one of the 4 topics for the year or the previous year's IC-topic.Competition is broken into three divisions based on age: junior division (grades 4-6), middle division (grades 7-9) and senior division (grades 10-12).Competitive Program: Students participating in the competitive program break into teams of four (or fewer) and evaluate a future scene using the six step future problem solving process.Top teams in each division will compete for an invitation to the International Conference.The first place team in each age division will be invited to attend the International Conference in June.
